One in particular for the Spanish side will be the return of Keylor Navas in goal, undoubtedly a top keeper but opening the catch vs punch debate.
It's all over here and both teams leave with a point. Bale at the back post almost maybe should have won the game for the visitors from a beautifully teasing ball in from Morata.
That could be the last chance. Did I mention in all the excitement that Morata came on for Benzema.
Min 88 The volume inside the stadium has just gone up a notch or three as the home fans taste more than just a point here.
Especially as the keeper steps up to play sweeper. Min 85 Pressure building from the home side. Do they have enough time? Keylor denies a Dortmund strike after Sergio Ramos' poor control.
Madrid looking a little nervous as the pressure is maintained in the final third but eventually get rid of three or four balls fired into the mix.
Min 79 Another chance for Madrid. It would take a brave man to suggest there'll be no more goals tonight. Min 77 Modric breaks and leads Madrid into an incredible four on two attack.
Guerreiro brings the Croatian down before he can feed his teammates and is shown a yellow. Guerreiro then subbed off for Ramos. Across and wide of a diving Keylor.
Min 72 The home side building the play methodically again but not getting in behind the white defensive formation - which has midfielders pressing intelligently.
Min 70 Chance for Dortmund. Guerreiro gets plenty behind it from the edge of the area but Keylor was down quickly to his left to push it away.
That was the type of shot you don't try to catch. Benzema sneaks in at the back post to meet the deep cross in after a short corner.
The ball smacks off the upright then the bar and drops a yard out for Varane to finish off. Min 65 Madrid again look to released Bale down the right flank.
From it they win a corner and the resultant header just clears the bar. Min 62 Great chance for Madrid. Ball won back just outside their own area and Bale released into space on the right wing which he exploits but then plays a weak pass into the onrushing Benzema who gets smothered out as he tries to get a clean shot away.
Min 60 Chance for Cristiano. Ball swung in from deep on the left and the Portuguese striker almost gets a good connection at the back post.
Min 57 There's certainly no suggestion that either side will accept the draw, both looking to attack when they have the ball.
The difference remains that the away side is playing like Must have needed goal-line technology to determine that.
Min 46 Early home injury concern. Ginter down and off the pitch getting treatment for what looked like a non-contact twist. Madrid win a corner which is headed clear.
The players are coming back out and as our planned mole in each dressing room failed to get through the concrete floors we'll hope to identify the manager's instructions from the early stages of play.
Keylor's return in goal was one of the pre-match talking points and certainly his reluctance to catch the ball when straight at him will be discussed post-match.
Based on chances made and potential threats, going into the break level is not too far off the mark. Go grab a cuppa, pint or other version of your favourite relaxant and we'll see you in 15 minutes.
Cristiano turns to celebrate a quick response only to see an Englishman with a flag in the air. The ball broke to Benzema on the right of the area and he chooses to lift the ball back across goal.
It floats over the crowd of Germans and Madrid's number seven steers it back to the right hand post and in. His slow return to an onside position correctly spotted.
Dortmund win a free kick around 25 yards out and central Cristiano had helped out his defense well by nicking the ball away only for Ramos to lose the ball and clumsily foul.
Guerreiro curls the free kick medium pace into Keylor's arms but again the keeper chooses to punch. This time it doesn't go to safety and hits the backtracking Varane and bounces helplessly into the goal Navas fell after punching.
Aubameyang may have nudged it over the line. Min 39 Dortmund using all the pitch as they try to pull the hard working whites around and create an opening.
Min 35 Bale is spending some time working alongside Modric and Kroos in the middle of the park as James looks to threaten more in the front three.
I'll be analysing the heat maps at half time Good cross in from the right corner and Sokratis gets up and a strong head on it. Keylor chooses to punch rather than catch Min 31 Ramos tries the quarterback pass to switch attacking sides and fails The subsequent pass to the turned and running James stops with a raised flag.
There was plenty grass ahead if not. The big striker was almost through and released a shot which struck the bar but wouldn't have counted. Min 25 As Dortmund push for an equaliser Madrid continue to look most dangerous on the break and James finds himself in space on the right with a great chance to slide in Cristiano coming centrally from the left.
The Colombian dithers slightly and the gap closes which thwarts his attempted pass. Min 21 The frenetic start has just been tempered somewhat by that goal.
Another chance for the side in yellow is stopped by Danilo and the ball is released for the break. Madrid players stream forward and the ball is played from left across to inside the right hand side of the box.
James into Bale whose backheel finds Cristiano who drives it low into the left hand net. Min 15 Just as Dortmund press Ronaldo gets the ball in his usual wide berth and plays in Benzema nicely.
The Frenchman controls and steps into the area with space to shoot but stumbles and falls. To the amusement of the home fans. Min 13 Dortmund have stepped up the pressure and are looking the more dangerous.
Aubameyang was quick onto a soft back pass to Navas and left his studs in a position that could have caused some damage to the clearing keeper.
He wasn't down for long though. Big claims for a penalty and from this veiwing position it definitely looked to have come off a flailing Ronaldo arm.
An escape for Madrid. Min 8 Half chance for the home side as the ball is rolled along the edge of the Madrid box from the left and two players line up a shot.
No clean contact - also known as a sclaff in some parts. The European champions will bid to jump above the Bundesliga side with a victory to decide who will take top spot in Group F.
Both sides have qualified, but Real Madrid, on 11 points, trail leaders Dortmund by two points, meaning they must win to secure top spot.
The sides fought to a draw in the first meeting this season between the sides at Signal Iduna Park. Los Merengues are riding a game unbeaten streak, which is particularly impressive given the high-profile absentees of late, such as Toni Kroos and Gareth Bale.
Dortmund are languishing in sixth position, nine points off the pace, as RB Leipzig streak clear. Stay with us for all the live updates, analysis, reaction and photos from what promises to be a highly entertaining contest.
Marco Reus completed a late comeback from Borussia Dortmund to ensure they beat Real Madrid to secure top spot in their Champions League group.
Karim Benzema silenced his critics as Real Madrid fired themselves into a two-goal lead with strikes either side of the break.
It has seemed like the exciting young Dortmund side were going to be punished for a lack of cutting edge in both boxes. Dortmund then went onto miss a host of chances either side of half-time with American hot shot Christian Pulisic and Gonzalo Castro most at fault.
And Dortmund kept on pushing, as Reus completed the comeback late on to ensure top spot in the group. You sense that Aubameyang will go next year, but with Mor, Dembele, Pulisic and Weigl all evolving, this run could really develop that mentality and experience to regularly knock on the door in Europe.
This is a setback, make no mistake, Dortmund have been good value for their draw here. Real lacking the urgency and motivation perhaps? Can you believe it?
A lovely first touch and then a delicate side-foot volley squeezed past Weidenfeller and on to the post. Real much better in the last 10 minutes and it should be three again.
More wastefulness from Real, this time Marcelo! Lucas sent clear with a lovely flick by Benzema and his cross is deflected into the path of the Brazilian left-back.
Reus then clears off the line as Benzema, unmarked, directs a header towards the bottom left corner. Very close to just then Another close call for the hosts.
Benzema gets another chance seconds later as James swings in a peach of a cross that cannot be missed at the far post with the driven header into the turf.
Real on the front foot early and Carvajal pushing on, a dangerous-looking cross is turned behind. With Aubameyang and Schurrle at the back post, he blazes it far too hard across the six-yard box.
Schurrle stands over the free-kick and his shot squeezes through the wall and bounces before being clasped away in the bottom left corner by the Costa Rican international.
Pulisic on the overlap as BVB catch Real on the break, but his shot is comfortably saved by Navas - a huge waste.
The youngster returns the ball back to the Gabonese in one of the longest one-twos you will see, but Real are able to clear the danger.
Pulisic looking lively when he moves to the right and tries to move Marcelo back inside in order to track him.
Excellent movement from BVB. Lucas, now on the left, dances inside and picks out Ronaldo who kills it stone dead with a world class first touch.
Carvajal looks to find Benzema with a long, looping through ball, but Sokratis is on top of that. Bright start by Real and Ronaldo picks it up in space and fakes a shot before dragging it inside.
Tonight will be an opportunity for him to utterly convince them he is worth moving for next summer. Video Loading Video Unavailable.

Real Madrid Borussia Dortmund Reus Real Madrid Borussia Dortmund Aubameyang Real Madrid Borussia Dortmund Benzema Real Madrid Borussia Dortmund: Marco Reus completes late comeback - 5 things we learned Marco Reus completed a late comeback from Borussia Dortmund to ensure they beat Real Madrid to secure top spot in their Champions League group.
I love my team! The German playmaker has congratulated his team on an unbeaten group stage. The former Bayern star is yet another weapon for Tuchel to utilise.
Man City vs Borussia Dortmund, yes please! Wonderful for Reus to have that moment: Dortmund have been remarkably consistent this season.
Fascinating to see how far they can go. Real BVB Tremendous game and a draw on aggregate over the two games. Nobody will want these sides in the next round, both serious contenders to win it.
Three minutes to go of stoppage time and Real and desperate to get the ball forward. First and second may not be the pivotal decider for the last 16 it has been in past campaigns Aubameyang has too much pace, WAY too much pace.
Zidane to send on Morata for the closing moments here. Dortmund sniffing a draw in the closing moments and an overhit cross almost catches out Navas.

Bale turns and sprays an excellent ball for Ronaldo, now on the right, and though he's free he can't quite work his body position to find a comfortable shooting angle, so ends up swiping over the bar.
Ronaldo turns Schmelzer inside out and slams in a shot towardsw the near post that Burki pushes behind. The corner comes to nothing.
Guerreiro heads into the path of Modric, who races onto the ball and has Kroos alongside him. All it needs is a pass into space and he's in but Guerreiro is having no such thing, administering the foul and taking the booking.
Lovely from Dortmund, Weigl slapping a long, low pass into Guerreiro, who flicked around the corner first time for Schurrle. Though it took him quite wide, and though Aubameyang was in the middle, he went for goal, shooting low and hard - Navas pushed it clear.
Dortmund lose the ball and Madrid spring forward with four men, Modrid carrying the ball, so Weigl pulls him down and is booked.
The reason there weren't any yellow cards in the first half is that there didn't need to be. Another change for Dortmund: Dortmund have got themselves going again, but might do to get another striker on so that there's another man in the box.
Zidane was readying Kovacic before th egoal, but believe he's bringing him on now, replacing James.
Borussia Dortmund Real Madrid Varane Ronaldo takes the corner short to Kroos, takes the ball back, now close to the corner of the box, and curves a delicious cross to the back post.
Benzema is there alone, volleying from a tight angle and hitting the near post and bar for Varanae to force home the rebound from a couple of yards.
Thomas Tuchel needs to do something, because if he doesn't, Madrid will score and Dortmund will lose. And as I type that, Ronaldo, who's mooching about the left, earns another corner.
Madrid are easing their way into controlling this game, and Ronaldo tries an inswinging cross from the left that's deflected behind. And from the corner, Kroos picks out Bale,up between two defenders and hanging - but he heads over the top.
Aubameyang controls and nips around Ramos, who clatteres him, then protests his booking on the grounds that this is the first booking-worthy foul he's commited.
Lovely again from Madrid, James - who's had a good game - slides a ball in behind Piszczek, and Bale powermuscles onto it, his low cross picking out Benzema, who can't force a finish through Sokratis' slide.
Great chance for Ronaldo! Ramos lifts a delectable long pass over the defence and he's pulling away, towards the far post.
He really should score; he almost always scores; but he can't control his header and sends it wide. Again, Dortmund are monopolising possession, but without creating too much, and Carvajal sneaks down the right, planting a teasing low cross between Sokratis and Burki.
But Benzema can't force a way past Ginter to attack it. This game has passed Modric by so far - he hasn't got the athleticism to keep up and has no one to win the ball for him.
Ousmane Dembele is just a star. He runs at Danilo and goes left, inside him, then with exaggerated movement, goes back outside and slams a shot over the near post.
James finds Bale wholleans out, nips in, and is duly clattered by Schmelzer, who is booked. Trevor Francis can't recall one bad foul in the game - "so much respect for each other, that's the way the game should be played.
Ginter comes back, which is just as well for Dortmund, as Bartra isn't properly fit. That said, it'd not be at all surprising to see him limp off in a little while.
Obviously football is about a lot more than the 90 minutes, but this game is why we fell in love with the playing part of it.
Borussia Dortmund Real Madrid. And so ends a wonderful half of innovative, explosive, inventive football. Great stuff from both sides. Sokratis is caught upfield and Madrid take advantage to pour forward led by Benzema.
Out on the right, he picks a perfect cross to Ronaldo, who picks a perfect header back across Burki Schmelzer catches Bale, who pulls up for a second, but looks fine.
Keylor Navas, dearie him. There shall be one added minute. Borussia Dortmund Real Madrid Aubameyang. Guerreiro lobs a shot over the wall that Navas might catch after making himself a mug of Vimto.
But again, he punches, directly into Varan'e bonce, and the ball shoots past him whole Aubameyang tries to snaffle the goal on the line.
A lull, but then Ramos tries a dicey pass to James 25 yards out, picks out Gotze, and decides he can but foul him. Weigl and Guerreiro prompt down the right, but Carvajal interjects.
I wonder which of these sides will tire first; Dortmund have odne more running, but with the ball; Madrid are older.
Madrid have barely got out of their own half in the last ten minutes, and only a portion of that is because they don't mind hanging back and getting into character.
Dortmund are much faster and more explosive than them, though don't have the same grasp of the necessary. This is such a game.
Dembele produces some kind of tread-on-the-ball squirting backheel, and Piszczek's resultant cross is deflected behind. Dembele takes the corner himself and picks out Sokratis, but his powerful header is right at Navas, who for reasons known best to himself opts to punch clear.
On the other hand, yellow is no colour for a football kit; Brazil only works because it's Brazil. Aubameyang is such a player. He finds space between Ramos and Varane, accepting a slide-rule ball from Ginter with his back to goal before turning to roust Ramos and murder a shot against the bar.
Turns out he's offside, but still, brilliant, brilliant behaviour. Ronaldo has done nothing but score the only goal.
Which is only a half-joke - he's become a merciless accumulator, which is incredible, but he used to do so much more.
Ginter finds Aubameyang, who's come deep, and he allows the ball across his body beautifully, at the last second flashing a first time ball into the path of Dembele outside him.
He steps inside onto his left foot but can't decide whether he needs a dump or a haircut, giving Kroos time to slide in and block; the corner comes to nowt.
Dortmund are coming again, Dembele coming deep and finding Castro, who sets Aubameyang away. But Varane is just as quick, zoning across to whip the ball off his toe.
That Madrid goal came just as a Dortmund goal was looking inevitable. They were flying into everything, and have slowed since conceding.
Already, this is the best game I've seen this season by miles. I know Dortmund are losing, but they are a proper example of how to build without spending obscene money.
Borussia Dortmund Real Madrid 1 Him This is a lovely sweeping move, Benzema finding Kroos who sweeps a lovely crossfield ball through Ronaldo, who steps over it, and out to James at inside-right.
